Pauillac
Pauillac is sandwiched between Saint Estèphe to the north and Saint Julien to the south on the River Gironde as it widens into its estuary. The town of Pauillac itself is a small port which has shipped wines since ancient times.
Wine lovers love it because it is home to three of Bordeaux's five first growth wines: Château Lafite Rothschild, Château Latour, and Château Mouton Rothschild.
One of the most famous chateau is the "Grand Cru Classe" Pichon Longueville is here. Guided visits and wine tasting are available.

Bordeaux has nearly 350 classified buildings and buildings listed as Historic Monuments, including 3 religious World Heritage buildings since 1998 as part of the Routes of Santiago de Compostela in France.

Did you know...
Between 30,000 and 20,000 years ago the area of Bordeaux was inhabited by the Neanderthal Man, whose remains have been found at a famous cave known as Pair-non-Pair, near Bourg sur Gironde, just north of Bordeaux.
Côte d'Argent
The Côte d'Argent is the longest beach in France. Favourite of surfers. Just a short drive from Pauillac (30 minutes) you will find the sandy Atlantic surf beaches and Hourtin lake, where watersports activities are on offer.
